Ariel Balevi
Ariel Balevi is an oral storyteller whose repertoire derives from the Sufi, literary, and folklore traditions of Iran, Turkey, and Central Asia. Ariel performs these stories in English, using verse or proverb from the language of origin of the story. Ariel has performed both locally and internationally, sometimes with Western or traditional Persian musicians. In his performances Ariel strives to present the universality of these narratives, unfamiliar to some audiences, and in doing so bring about mutual respect and understanding among different cultural traditions.

David Stones

He published his first collection of poetry, Infinite Sequels, in 2013, subsequently transforming the work into a one-man show of the same name. art bar
The Art Bar is recognized as Canada's longest running poetry-only, weekly reading series. Since 1991, it has featured both emerging and established poets from across Canada and occasionally from abroad. It has become a hub for the poetry community, and entry point for new voices, a place for people to enjoy one of the oldest arts.

While featuring no fewer than one hundred-twenty poets a year, The Art Bar provides another five hundred opportunities for people to present their poems on its open-stage. Twenty-five percent of its features are emerging poets (who have yet to see their first book published). The remaining seventy-five percent are mid- to advanced-career poets, many of whom have won local, national and international awards for their work.

The Art Bar enjoys an average weekly audience of approximately sixty-five people and is able to accommodate up to one hundred. It provides an inclusive venue for poetry and features poets from diverse backgrounds and from every province in Canada. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to participate by getting on stage, speaking to a poet, or simply applauding.

Shawna Caspi
Shawna Caspi is a solo singer-songwriter with a powerful voice and serious guitar chops. With a commanding stage presence and an inviting charm, she doesn’t need a band to deliver an engaging and energetic show. She has all the sound she needs under her fingertips, with a remarkable fingerstyle guitar technique. Shawna’s playful wit and sense of a seasoned storyteller makes each performance intimate and captivating, no matter the size of the room. She has played in venues from cafes to soft-seat theatres, from living rooms to festival stages – even in the lounge car of a moving train. In 2012, she released her sophomore CD, Skyline, and made her folk festival debut on the main stage at Summerfolk, followed by tours in Ontario, Newfoundland, and Nova Scotia.

David Watt Besley
David Watt Besley hails from St. Augustine, FL and is a great favourite on the Northern Florida circuit. His songwriting career spans 4 decades with his 9th recording project due for imminent release. He also has a vast repertoire of popular songs available upon request, performed in his own, inimitable style.
