D'Arcy Wickham (voice/guitar)

D'Arcy Wickham
D'Arcy Wickham is a Canadian singer/songwriter whose proficient finger-picked acoustic guitar style has been recognized as one of the best in the country. His deep musical roots have led him to work as a guitar instructor for over three decades, but it wasn't until 2000 that he'd release "Dust and Loneliness," his first solo recording. That track, as well as subsequent contributions to his catalog, illustrated Wickham's impressive knowledge of the inner-workings of folk and blues history that has made him a popular figure amongst Canadian music listeners who favor traditional genres and straight-forward songwriting. Wickham has earned an impressive amount of accolades and awards throughout Canada to complement his illustrious career.

art bar
The Art Bar is recognized as Canada's longest running poetry-only, weekly reading series. Since 1991, it has featured both emerging and established poets from across Canada and occasionally from abroad. It has become a hub for the poetry community, and entry point for new voices, a place for people to enjoy one of the oldest arts.

While featuring no fewer than one hundred-twenty poets a year, The Art Bar provides another five hundred opportunities for people to present their poems on its open-stage. Twenty-five percent of its features are emerging poets (who have yet to see their first book published). The remaining seventy-five percent are mid- to advanced-career poets, many of whom have won local, national and international awards for their work.

The Art Bar enjoys an average weekly audience of approximately sixty-five people and is able to accommodate up to one hundred. It provides an inclusive venue for poetry and features poets from diverse backgrounds and from every province in Canada. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to participate by getting on stage, speaking to a poet, or simply applauding.

She played violin since age of 5 and piano since age of 10. At age 17 Jana started playing guitar which in accompany of the influence of P!NK,Jason Mraz,Butch Walker,Jack White and others triggered her musical writing and started performing at local cafes, private luxury yachts in Greece and later in 2014 in local cafes in Toronto where she lives currently.

Creating indie acoustic music with influences of jazz, blues, and pop

Lindsay Misiner
With a roaring voice of haunting passion and songwriting skills far beyond her years and time, Lindsay Misiner will leave you questioning how such an intricate talent could get inside the body of a young, long haired, bell bottomed girl.

With intense and truthful lyrics, there is no mistaking the passion that Misiner holds within the palm of her hand. Her honesty and devotion to an intelligent lyric, in pair with her painfully pure moaning vocal is what makes her style so undeniably different.

The style that Lindsay embodies goes deeper than just her songwriting, as her live performances have a captivating nature and an element of vulnerability. Full of soul, feeling, and electrifying vocals, Misiner will leave you feeling as if she has always known your life story. There are no comparisons when it comes to Misiner. As an artist, she stands on her own as a glorified soul creation of the past, present, and future.

Saffron & Guests

Sunday, November 26th, 2017 at 8pm

Saffron (voice/guitar)

Saffron
Saffron is a singer-songwriter who accompanies herself on mandolin and mandola.

With this solo platform, Saffron is sharing her music in a more intimate way, performing her works as they were originally written- one woman with a Mandolin, and a journal full of poetry.

Saffron has been composing poetry since she was 9, she was classically trained in voice from ages 10-18, and she started teaching herself the mandolin at age 16. Her music draws from many influences from her life and experiences.

With her songwriting, Saffron has made a promise to herself. A promise to not write the same song twice. She has managed to keep this vow so far, challenging herself to think outside herself with each new composition.
